Fun and Flu

Last Saturday, my nephew, Cooper, had his 5th birthday party! They girls were very excited. It was at a family friendly restaurant in Fulshear.

A quick pic of my three before we went in. (Kennedy, Jillian, Kaitlyn)

There was an arcade room so Tony took the crew and let them play some games.

It was a "Star Wars" themed party and Jenn did a great job on the cookies.

The birthday boy got LOTS of gifts!

Jenn made all the kids something to wear on their head. Cooper had Yoda ears and the girls all had Princess Leia buns. :)

Monday, there was a school holiday for the twins and Tony. (I had to work)
Tony texted me later in the day and told me that Kennedy was running a fever. He took her to the doctor and what do you know....she had the flu. Again. It was a different strain.

Wednesday was PJ day at school (again!) Kennedy had to miss it again for the SAME reason. Kaitlyn had fun wearing her's though.

On Friday, Kennedy's fever was gone so she didn't have to miss rodeo day! Yipee!!

My sweet little cowgirls.

So far, everyone else has stayed healthy....hoping it will stay that way.  :)

Valentines Day

The girls had fun dressing in red, pink and hearts each morning for school. (Or maybe it was me that enjoyed dressing them like?!?)
Everything was heart shaped for breakfast each morning! Too fun!

The table was decorated valentine morning and they got a special breakfast and they got to drink out of fancy glasses! :)

Lots of Valentine fun!

On top of that...their PawPaw and YaYa from Azle sent them some surprises too!!
They also got big heart balloons from Grandma and Pa!

Tony sent me flowers at school....I love them.

We didn't go out valentine's night, but we did get a sitter and go out Friday night!
Woo hoo! Date night!

We ate at Diego's Cantina (3rd floor restaurant) in Sugar Land. We got a table by overlooking the water...very nice! We had a yummy meal and the atmosphere was perfect for a Valentine dinner.

We ended our night out with some yummy tres leches dessert! We had such a fantastic night out. Makes me realize we need to do it more often.

Well, Feb 14th has come and gone, but it sure was fun.  We had my nephew, Cooper's, birthday party this past weekend and I'll be posting some of those pictures soon.  The girls have pajama day and rodeo day coming up! Always lots going on.

Valentine Fun, haircuts and more!

Well, February is here and it's almost 10 days into it, so I knew I needed to post!  We have been busy, but it's been fun. The girls are still enjoying gymnastics. They go every Tuesday.  Last week one of the coaches snapped this cute picture of the twins. I love it.

 Kaitlyn, Kennedy

While I'm at work, my mom and Jenn take Jillian and Cooper to "PK open gym" at Iron Cross.  They have a lot of fun!  Jilly and Cooper are at the bottom of the picture.

I love Valentine's Day and I made little treats for all 3 kids and Tony for the first 14 days of February.

Each little saying matches the candy/snack.  The candy you can't see is attached to the back.
"You are priceless to me" = 100 grand bar
"I love you to the moon and back" = milky way
"Bursting with love" =Starburst
You get the picture!  :)
I put it in their lunches every day and they always look forward to their little Valentine each day.

I have also been making everything I can into hearts for breakfast and lunch!! Cinnamon roll hearts, bacon hearts, PB&J sandwich hearts, heart pancakes, biscuits, toast etc. Soo fun!

We have also been doing lots of Valentine cooking! (Sorry for the picture quality...I took most of these with my phone)
Kaitlyn posing with her chocolate-covered strawberries!

 Yummy!

We also took marshmallows, dipped them in chocolate and put sprinkles on top. :)
The kids weren't too impressed with the taste, but the adults loved them.  (Tony thinks they taste like "Peeps")

We have also been wearing lots of Valentine attire! So fun!

This past Monday was the 100th day of school!! The girls designed posters for the big day.
Kennedy chose to put 100 balloons on her poster and Kaitlyn wanted 100 spots on the ladybug.
They did these posters with minimal help. (That's hard for me!! I'm such a perfectionist, but I know it's good for them to do it themselves)

 Jillian, Kennedy, Kaitlyn

On Thurs and Friday, the faculty/staff at my school went on our annual retreat. It's hard being away from Tony and the girls, but they were in good hands.

When I got home on Friday, the girls wanted to do more valentine cooking! So we made Valentine cupcakes and decorated them.

Kaitlyn hard at work spreading her icing.

Today I took the girls to get their hair trimmed.  They were having 5.99 cuts and I couldn't resist that price.  Jillian has never had a haircut so be prepared for lots of pictures! :) She did great!

 This is her "before" picture

 My cutie
(You will notice in the background that the hairdressers are wearing Mardi Gras masks! The girls were ok with it though because they were full of sparkles and feathers. :)

 During

 Jillian did so good. :)
You can see Kennedy in the background getting hers done.

 All done!!
I told them to just trim it....I didn't want any of her curls cut off.
She got a sucker when she was done and she was so proud of herself!

We came back home and the girls played outside for a long time. And of course...we did MORE cooking. This time, we didn't really cook anything...more like just decorating.
We took Rice Krispies treats and rolled them out. Then we cut them into heart shapes with the cookie cutter. We melted pink vanilla chips (like dipping chocolate, but vanilla instead) and they spread this on their heart. Then they went to town with M&M's and sprinkles. They really enjoyed this one. I think it would be even better with chocolate!

 Tasting her treat

Jillian had a lot of fun....she feels so big doing everything like her sisters.

Today the valentine treat they got was Pop Rocks. Their valentine said" You Rock". It was soo funny watching them try this for the first time. They loved it! I was surprised!
We have some more cooking fun for tomorrow!  Have I mentioned that I love Valentines day?? :) :)

January visit

Since we were sick back in December, Tony's parents couldn't come for Christmas. They decided to make a trip in January instead and it was fun for all! They brought Shaylee with them as a surprise for the girls. They love their cousin and don't get to see her as often as they would like.

Of course, as soon as they got there we started with presents. Shaylee was so sweet and bought each girl a gift from her school store.  They loved the jewelry set and crown.  I love their happy/surprised faces in this picture! :)

All the Slate girls (Kaitlyn, Kennedy, Shaylee, Jillian)

 Cute picture of Shaylee

Tony got some fun pajama pants! :)

Jilly had fun opening all her gifts...she worked so hard at unwrapping.

We went out to a nearby mexican food restaurant... it's such a fun treat for the girls (and us too!)
to go out to eat!

One more picture of the girls...they had sooo much fun playing with Shaylee.  We were so glad she got to come. We had a great visit with everyone and it was sad to see them go.

Near the middle of January, the twins both got on "purple" at school. They have a discipline/color chart that goes up and down in their classes. You go down colors when you don't obey and you can go up colors when you are doing the right thing. Purple is the highest color. When you get on purple, you get to go to the Purple Party!! Woo hoo!! That was a super fun day for the girls. They dressed in purple and got to do all things purple at the party. :)  I was so happy they got to attend this little party.
