BSF, Star of the Week and Student of the Month!

BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) started last week. I love this Bible study and look forward to it every year. This year we are going through the book of Genesis. I'm so thankful that I can attend in the morning before work!  Tony started BSF for the first time last week and he loves it too! ( I knew he would.) There is men's class that meets in the evening.
Jillian goes with me and learns an incredible Bible lesson while I'm in mine. Here she is modeling her backpack all ready for BSF!  (She wanted a "back to school" picture like her sisters.)

 Her new Hello Kitty backpack

Kaitlyn has a big week! She was chosen to be "star of the week" first in her class! She has been soooo excited working on her poster. She is so proud!
Her poster about herself

For the whole week she got to keep the "class pet".  It's a stuffed animal named Lucy. She has to take pictures of the things she does with Lucy.

Lucy went on a bike ride

Lucy went to church

And she went to Kroger too!

Here is a look at her poster. She did it all by herself (supervised by mom) .
She picked the pictures she wanted on there, glued it all down and wrote the captions under each.
She took this very seriously...down to which background color would match each picture and what color stars would be on her poster.  :)

Not only is she Star of the Week this week, but she is also STUDENT OF THE MONTH!!!! Yea Kaitlyn!!!!  She was chosen as the top student in her class for September!

Kaitlyn got a ribbon and certificate and a pencil. She also had her name on the announcements at school! :)

What a big week for my Kaitlyn! :) We are proud of you!

Teeth and activities

We have had a busy week so far! Sunday we had church and I got the girls to stop and take a quick picture before we went in.  Their Ya Ya sent them new dresses and they were very proud of them. I'm teaching the 3 year olds  in church now and enjoying that. Tony is still teaching the Deaf class.

On Sunday, Sept 2, Kennedy lost her 2nd tooth.  She has sooo excited!  The "tooth fairy" visited her that night.

The next day, Monday, Sept 3 (Labor Day), Kaitlyn lost her FIRST tooth!! Soooooo excited!!

Kindergarten is still going well! They are loving it. This week we added in gymnastics on Tues. at 3:30 after school  and Awanas on Wednesday.  We don't want to over involve them, but they love both of these activities .  (And we love the skills they are learning in gymnastics and the scripture memory in Awanas)

Another successful week and tomorrow is FRIDAY!!

First day of kindergarten

The first day of Kindergarten was a success! They came home super excited about their friends and teacher!!

In the morning, the twins were up bright and early (6:00!). They were sooo excited to start school.  They were also super happy about their new backpacks and lunch bags.  Of course, I took WAY too many pictures, but that's a mom's job, right??

 At school
They got a little embarrassed taking pictures with everyone around. But...most parents were doing the same thing.

They are holding their teacher's gifts. A cup filled with all kinds of Hershey's Kisses!! The tag said: Kisses from Kaitlyn and Kisses from Kennedy

Jillian joined us and wanted to have her backpack too. Poor thing....she wants to be "big" so badly! She was sad that her sisters were leaving her!

This was sweet. We were leaving and Kaitlyn wanted to give her "sissy" a hug. I know they missed each other during the day. (Separate classes this year)

Kennedy's turn!

Ready to start the day

I knew they were going to have a fun day.
After school they came home full of excitement and energy. They told us about new friends and about all the "rules" they have to go over in every class. :)
I'm so thankful that this day went well. I had been dreading sending them off, but I knew they were happy and that made things so much easier.  I can't believe I have 2 school-aged children now! Wow!

Kindergarten: Meet the teacher

I can't believe the time has come, but my girls are going to kindergarten. (Sigh). I'm not so sure I'm ready for this, but the first day is coming soon.  (Monday!)
I took a few pictures before "meet the teacher".

The girls are going to be going to Oakland Elem...our neighborhood school. We decided to separate the girls this year and see how that goes. I'm hoping both girls will gain some independence away from each other.  After Kinder orientation, we went to Kaitlyn's class first.

She has a brand new teacher this year (just graduated!) named Miss Harbison. She seems really nice!(and young!)

After we got Kaitlyn settled we headed to Kennedy's class.

Kennedy's teacher has been teaching 13 years in Kindergarten. Her name is Mrs. Tijerina

While we were there we bought the girls a school shirt! They put them on right away.  :)

I'm praying they have a super year!

Pictures

I took the kids to get their 3 and 6 year pictures made the other day. We usually go to Portrait Innovations and I'm usually pretty happy with the results. I think we got some decent pictures this time, but I know this wasn't the best photo session we have had.

Jillian did her leg like this all by herself and wouldn't put it down. Cracked us up!
