First day of kindergarten

The first day of Kindergarten was a success! They came home super excited about their friends and teacher!!

In the morning, the twins were up bright and early (6:00!). They were sooo excited to start school.  They were also super happy about their new backpacks and lunch bags.  Of course, I took WAY too many pictures, but that's a mom's job, right??

 At school
They got a little embarrassed taking pictures with everyone around. But...most parents were doing the same thing.

They are holding their teacher's gifts. A cup filled with all kinds of Hershey's Kisses!! The tag said: Kisses from Kaitlyn and Kisses from Kennedy

Jillian joined us and wanted to have her backpack too. Poor thing....she wants to be "big" so badly! She was sad that her sisters were leaving her!

This was sweet. We were leaving and Kaitlyn wanted to give her "sissy" a hug. I know they missed each other during the day. (Separate classes this year)

Kennedy's turn!

Ready to start the day

I knew they were going to have a fun day.
After school they came home full of excitement and energy. They told us about new friends and about all the "rules" they have to go over in every class. :)
I'm so thankful that this day went well. I had been dreading sending them off, but I knew they were happy and that made things so much easier.  I can't believe I have 2 school-aged children now! Wow!

Kindergarten: Meet the teacher

I can't believe the time has come, but my girls are going to kindergarten. (Sigh). I'm not so sure I'm ready for this, but the first day is coming soon.  (Monday!)
I took a few pictures before "meet the teacher".

The girls are going to be going to Oakland Elem...our neighborhood school. We decided to separate the girls this year and see how that goes. I'm hoping both girls will gain some independence away from each other.  After Kinder orientation, we went to Kaitlyn's class first.

She has a brand new teacher this year (just graduated!) named Miss Harbison. She seems really nice!(and young!)

After we got Kaitlyn settled we headed to Kennedy's class.

Kennedy's teacher has been teaching 13 years in Kindergarten. Her name is Mrs. Tijerina

While we were there we bought the girls a school shirt! They put them on right away.  :)

I'm praying they have a super year!

Pictures

I took the kids to get their 3 and 6 year pictures made the other day. We usually go to Portrait Innovations and I'm usually pretty happy with the results. I think we got some decent pictures this time, but I know this wasn't the best photo session we have had.

Jillian did her leg like this all by herself and wouldn't put it down. Cracked us up!

Lately

Here are a few highlights of the past few weeks. :)

Aunt Dar sent the girls fun hats with seeds to plant. They love them!

Kaitlyn learned how to ride her bike without training wheels!!  I have video of it, but not a picture. I'll try to get one up soon. (Kennedy learned to ride hers about 6 months ago, so Kaitlyn is so happy to be riding with Kennedy now)

We went to Stomping grounds with the Fox family. :) The girls had a lot of fun. Then we went to CFA for some lunch and to see Tony on his LAST day at CFA. He is going back to teaching! Woo Hoo! I'm so happy to have him home more...and the girls are too!

Lately, Jillian has been disappearing into her room and then coming down all dressed up! It's so cute. She even did it one day during naptime. I thought she was asleep, but when I heard something I went up to her room. Instead of sleeping, she was dressing up!!

PawPa and Ya Ya came for a surprise visit! I knew they were coming, but Tony and the girls didn't! It was sooo fun to see the look on Tony's face! The girls were super exctied too! First thing they saw were the pillow pets that they brought for them.

Later that week we had friends over for dinner. They have 2 sweet girls, but I just took one picture the whole evening. (fail)  This is their youngest one....Charlotte. They have a 2 1/2 year old too. The girls had a lot of fun together and it was great catching up with Brian and Becca.

The next week I took the twins to Oakland Elem to get tested for Kindergarten. They just had to be tested on ABC, counting, letter sounds, writing their name etc.  They did well and I think they are starting to get excited about going to school.

Every Wednesday all the girls have gymnastics. It's hard to get good pictures because I'm never close enough to the girls and I only have my phone. They LOVE going!!

Blurry, but cute....."sticking" her landing :)
I didn't get one of the twins this time.

After gymnastics, we headed for the beach for one last trip before school starts! :)

Ready for the pool! Love this one! :)

It was great to relax and get away one last time for the summer!!

Next week the twins have VBS at our church and I have last minute things to get done before school. (Tony and I both go back on the 13th!)
