Thankful

The girls have such wonderful grandparents!! Tony's family lives 5 hours away, but they still spoil them via the mail!! The girls love getting a box in the mail from Paw Paw and Ya Ya or Aunt Dar and Uncle Lee! Today they got one from Paw Paw and Ya Ya and they were sooo excited! They got outfits, coloring pages, toy hamsters, candy and more! Such happy girls!

Kennedy with her hamster in her new outfit.

Kaitlyn posing with her new outfit and hamster!

Jillian also got a cute outfit and an adorable bear that says the Lord's prayer when you push his hand. She LOVED this and got the biggest smile when she heard it. Thanks Paw Paw and Ya Ya for all the fun gifts!

We are also thankful for Grandma and Pa! I snapped a few pictures of them today after realizing that I don't have many of them with the girls! Grandma and the twins!

Grandma and Pa with all three! Thanks for being such great grandparents!

Lately

Nothing too terribly exciting has been happening around the Slate household...but thats ok! Here is Kaitlyn loving on baby sister!

Jillian went to the dr a couple weeks ago for her 15 month check up and got 4 shots (Boo!) It seemed to bother her for a few days or so, but overall she is her happy little self!

Jillian loooves Scooter!! Here she is giving Scoot a hug!

The girls one morning before school (which they are loooooving, by the way. ) They come home so excited to tell me all about it. Each Friday is show n tell and they are loving picking out their item each week!

Last Friday, they came down with strep, though. No fun! They spent Saturday under the covers in our bedroom watching Dora and princess movies. (And yes, Kaitlyn is holding a halloween gift sack and Kennedy has a Christmas sack..they just wanted to pretend they were getting presents for their birthday! They would put toys in the sack and then act surprised! Silly girls!)

Meanwhile, little one is learning new words like crazy!! Her latest is Bible!! And, of course, she loves showing me her bellybutton! (That's what she is about to do)

Scooter got a new collar this week! Not a great picture of it, but she looks snazzy in her pink/black animal print! :)

And I found Crocs for Jillian at CVS for $.89! (regularly 7.99) I love great deals!

Hopefully I'll be better at updating....I have been lagging lately!

1st day of preschool!

Kennedy showing off her backpack.

Is this a proud preschooler or what?? (Kennedy)

Kaitlyn ready to go.

So proud of her big girl backpack. What a cutie pie!

What a pair! They were talking non stop all morning about school and their teacher.

Walking into the church. (They look so grown up!)

What a cute little class! (Not all the kids were there yet.) I love how K and K are intently watching their teacher.

The first day was a huge success!!! They were thrilled and can't wait to go back!

Open house/Meet the teacher

Kennedy and Kaitlyn got to visit their preschool classroom today and meet their teacher! They were beyond excited! Here is Kennedy coloring a picture! ( By the way, she's a lefty....which was a complete surprise to us all! On the other hand, Kaitlyn is right handed...which makes them mirror image twins....just thought I would throw that in there!)

Kaitlyn playing with the kitchen! Their teacher is Mrs. Kasey and she seemed just wonderful! (Didn't get a picture of her though! I felt like a big goon just taking these pictures because NO ONE else was taking pictures. (Doesn't everyone have a blog??? Ha!)

Just exploring the room!

I asked Kennedy what her favorite thing she is looking forward to doing this year and she said "using glitter." Such a girly girl! (She heard the teacher mention that during her little speech today) Kaitlyn answered "gluing." She loves crafty projects!

Then I asked what they were excited about learning. Kennedy said " drawing better and reading" Kaitlyn said "learning how to inside out her shirts" (which means....when her shirts are inside out she wants to be able to fix that and turn them right side in) Ha! Don't know if they teach that. She then went on to say coloring and reading.

I know they are going to have an awesome year! I'm so excited for them!

What we've been up to

Well, we are back to school!!! I can't believe another school year has already started. We just completed our first full week (with kids) and it's busy, but going well. Kennedy and Kaitlyn will start their preschool at Sugar Creek Baptist Sept 1 so we are gearing up for that.

We celebrated my mom's birthday and had a little party for her! :) Happy Birthday Grandma!

Tami had her birthday just a couple of days after my mom! We couldn't be with her to celebrate, but the girls sang "Happy Birthday" over the phone to her! :) Happy Birthday YaYa! (This was a pic when Jillian was about 6 months, but I thought it was too cute of them both!)

I was in the middle of changing the sheets on our bed on Saturday and this is what I came back to find....all of them rolling around on the bed having a blast!

Cousin Cooper outgrew his Kangaroo Climber and passed it on to Jillian! Thanks Cooper!

She loved it!!

Group shot. This was the best picture we could get with all three. Little Jillian just does not like getting her picture taken! She was either upset, walking away or looking down in all the others.

Whataburger night

A couple of days ago, Whataburger was celebrating it's birthday and giving out free burgers if you wore orange! We (my family, my brother's family and my dad) all went and joined the crazy people to get our free burgers! :)

Little one taking in all the fun!!

Modeling our orange shirts! :)

Kennedy, Cooper and Kaitlyn. Cooper had on orange shorts!

They proudly wore their hats, pins and started singing "Happy Birthday" to Whataburger! They started this and before we knew it the whole restaurant joined in!! It was cool!

Springtown

Last week we drove to Springtown, TX (near Ft Worth) to visit Tony's family. It's usually a 5 hour drive, but we made pretty good time (with 3 kids and lots of stops) and got there in 6 hours. On the way up we stopped for lunch at Wendy's and Tony snapped this picture of Kaitlyn and me!

Kennedy and Daddy!

Baby Jillian..ready for her lunch and glad to be out of the car! :)

We finally made it and the kids went straight for Aunt Dar's pool!! They put their feet in and enjoyed the cool water. (Kaitlyn, Kennedy, Aunt Dar, Jillian)

The girls also got to play around with Tony's cousins, Nic and Chase! Here is Nic and Tony giving the twins piggy back rides!!

Later that evening we went swimming! It took Kennedy a while to work up the courage to get in, but she did it! She loved her little boat. Shaylee (their cousin) came over and jumped in too!

Poor Kaitlyn never could get off the steps. We tried to talk her into getting in a boat or letting someone hold her, but no such luck.

Kennedy enjoying the pool!

Kennedy, Daddy and Shaylee

The next day, we woke up and headed down to Tony's dad's office. (Paw Paw) Shaylee was already there and the girls had fun just exploring the office.

Kennedy enjoyed playing the guitar that was there! Looks like a natural! :)

Later that day, we took Jillian for a swim...this was her reaction. :(
I was so surprised that she didn't like it!!

Max (the dog that hangs around Lee and Dar's house) terrified the kids. (but not Shaylee!) In their defense, this dog is HUGE! He looks like a small horse walking around.

Racing with Paw Paw! Scooter (yes, we brought her!) even joined in the race! Scooter LOVED being in the country!!

A quick pic of my three cuties Saturday morning! (Kaitlyn, Jillian,Kennedy)

Later on Saturday, the girls played dress up and had a blast showing off their dance moves! I caught Shaylee and Kennedy in mid air! :)

Of course, Scooter had to dress up too!

That evening, two of Tony's best friends and their families came to visit. They all live about 45 minutes to an hour away! Tony, Jeff and Jake! It was so good to see them!

Jillian and Conner (Jake and Angie's little boy) He was just 1 month older than Jillian.

Paw Paw and Ya Ya taking a moment to hold Jillian.

The whole group! (Left:Jeff, Charlie and Kyri Middle: Tony, Jillian, Kennedy, me and Kaitlyn Right: Angie, Conner, Jake and Madelyn)

The other person who loved Max "the horse dog" was Jillian!

We had such a wonderful, relaxing time hanging out with Tony's family. The trip was a much needed break for Tony (from working all the time) and we all had so much fun!
